Joaquín R. del Paso
José Joaquín Rodríguez del Paso (Teziutlán, Puebla, Mexico, December 9, 1961 – San José, Costa Rica, October 29, 2016) was a Costa Rican plastic artist and art critic. He was one of the first artists to introduce contemporary art in Costa Rica.
His work, mostly paintings, is based on a conceptual discourse on the identity and perception of Latin America in different areas: the political and social relationship between the metropolitan centers of cultural emission and the periphery, their power links, and its semiotics, and its hypocrisy.
